Most tint quotes in the GTA come as a single number with no explanation of what film is going on the glass. We think you should know exactly what you are paying for, so here is how our window tinting packages are priced, what is included, and how to choose.
The three films and their starting prices
All prices cover the four side windows and the back windshield, before HST.
- Nano-Ceramic, from $150. Our entry ceramic film. 97% infrared (heat) rejection, 99% UV rejection, and no metal, so no signal interference. It will not turn purple or bubble the way dyed film does.
- Solar Gard, from $249. A ceramic film from Saint-Gobain, one of the largest glass and film makers in the world. 95% infrared rejection, optically clear glass at night and a manufacturer-backed lifetime warranty from Saint-Gobain.
- SunTek Evolve, from $299. Our top film and the one we fit when heat is the priority. Evolve is a nano-ceramic with 98% infrared rejection, the highest in our range, and the same performance in light and dark shades. We are an authorised SunTek dealer, so the warranty is registered with SunTek at install.
- Audific chameleon windshield, from $150. An 80% VLT film for the windshield that shifts blue to purple in sunlight while staying near clear from the driver's seat. It blocks 98% of infrared heat and 99.8% of UV. Read more in our chameleon windshield guide.
What the price includes
- A shade consultation with real film samples held against your glass, so you see the result before we cut anything.
- Precision computer-cut patterns for your exact make, model and year. The film is cut on a plotter before it reaches the car, so no blade touches your glass, paint or seals, and the edges come out clean.
- Glass preparation, installation in a dust-controlled studio, and a final inspection under the lights for dust, edge lift and clarity.
- A lifetime warranty against colour fading, turning purple, peeling, bubbling and lifting.
- An aftercare walk-through so you know when the windows can go down and how to clean the film.
What changes the price
Three things move a quote above the starting price, and we tell you about all of them before any work starts.
- Extra glass. The starting price covers four side windows and the back windshield. Rear quarter windows on SUVs and vans, sunroofs, and split rear glass add pieces.
- Old tint removal. Bubbled or purple film has to come off completely, adhesive and all, before new film goes on. It is quoted once we see the glass because the time varies a lot.
- Front door shade. The front doors are part of the four windows, but Ontario requires a clear view of the driver from outside, so we fit them in a light shade.
Is the upgrade worth it?
All three films block 99% of UV and come in the same shades, so the car looks the same from outside whichever you choose. All three also reject most of the infrared heat: 97% for Nano-Ceramic, 95% for Solar Gard and 98% for SunTek Evolve. That is what keeps the steering wheel and seats cooler after the car has sat in the sun, and takes load off the air conditioning on the 401 in July.
Our honest guidance: if the car is parked outside most of the day or you do a lot of summer driving, Evolve has the highest heat rejection and SunTek's registered warranty. If you want strong heat rejection at the lowest price, Nano-Ceramic at 97% is hard to beat. Solar Gard is for drivers who want Saint-Gobain's name and manufacturer warranty behind the film.
A note on legality
Rear side and back windows have no VLT limit in Ontario. Front door windows must let a clear view of the driver, so we keep them light and recommend 70%. Aftermarket film on the windshield is not permitted on vehicles made in 2017 or later, apart from a strip above the AS-1 line. Rules are applied at the roadside and can change, so we advise on current guidance but cannot promise a specific setup will never be questioned. Our Ontario tint law guide goes into more detail.
