What Ontario law says
Ontario's Highway Traffic Act restricts coatings that block the driver's view or prevent someone outside from seeing in. For vehicles made on or after January 1, 2017, no aftermarket tint is allowed on the windshield, and the front side windows must let most light through.
- Windshield: no aftermarket tint on newer vehicles.
- Front side windows: must stay highly transparent, light tints only.
- Rear side and back windows: no specific darkness limit, provided you have working side mirrors.
