A professional ceramic coating is an investment in years of gloss and protection, but how you care for it decides how long it performs. Here's the routine we recommend.
The first week: let it cure
Coating keeps hardening after application. For the first 7 days, avoid washing the car, avoid heavy rain where possible, and remove any bird droppings or bugs promptly, they're most damaging while the coating cures.
Washing a coated car the right way
- Skip automatic car washes. Their brushes dull the coating, this is the single most important rule.
- Hand wash with pH-neutral shampoo. Harsh detergents strip the hydrophobic layer.
- Use the two-bucket method so you're not rubbing dirt back onto the paint.
- Dry with a clean microfiber towel to avoid mineral spots.
- Wash every two to three weeks to keep contamination from bonding.
What to avoid
Don't use abrasive polishes or compounds, they remove the coating. Avoid cleaner-waxes, which can degrade it. In winter, rinse off road salt regularly rather than letting it sit.
When it needs attention
If water stops beading the way it did, the surface may just need a decontamination wash or a booster rather than a full re-coat. We can inspect it and tell you honestly what it needs.
