What is paint correction?
Paint correction is a multi-stage machine polishing process that levels the clear coat by removing a microscopically thin layer, erasing swirl marks, light scratches, water spots and oxidation. The result is paint that reflects light cleanly again, with real depth and shine.
What causes swirl marks?
- Automatic car washes with abrasive brushes that drag grit across the paint.
- Improper hand washing without the two-bucket method, rubbing dirt back into the surface.
- Wiping a dry or dusty car with a towel.
- Age and UV exposure, which oxidize and dull the clear coat over time.
The paint correction process
- Wash and decontamination. The paint is thoroughly cleaned and clay-barred to remove bonded contaminants.
- Inspection. Under bright lighting we assess the depth and severity of the defects.
- Machine polishing. One or more stages of cutting and refining compounds remove the imperfections and refine the gloss.
- Protection. A ceramic coating is applied to lock in the results and keep the finish protected.
Why correct before coating?
Ceramic coating is transparent and permanent for its lifespan, so it locks in whatever is underneath. If you coat over swirls and scratches, you seal those flaws in. Correcting first means the coating protects a flawless surface.
